Luxor attractions, Luxor has been estimated that Luxor contains about a third of the most valuable monuments and antiquities in the whole world, which makes it one of this planet’s most important tourism sites. Luxor Today: Today, Luxor is well equipped to accommodate tourists with many hotels and, in general, a tourist industry ready and willing to serve the people from across the globe that descend on this area of the Nile Valley every year. luxor today has a population of round about 230,000, most of them are working in tourism , though there are many who are working in agriculture and commerce. Luxor city and monuments is one of those places that tourist must see. Within Luxor city which is located on East Nile River bank, there are only three main streets consisting of Al-Mahatta street, which is the street in front of the train station, the Corniche street, next to the Nile River & Al Karnak street, runs along the Nile from Luxor Temple to Karnak Temple. Al-Karnak street is carrying the same name of Karnak temple and to the south around the temple it is known as Sharia al-Lokanda. Along this street tourists will find the colorful signs of restaurants and cafes, as well as bazaars where the usual variety of Egyptian souvenirs can be found. How to go to Luxor from other Egyptian cities: You can visit Luxur in one day tour from anywhere in Egypt, but of course the one day tour will not be enough to see all of it, may be it enables tourists to see Karnak temple ( on Luxor East bank ), valley of kings, Hatshepsut temple & Memnon statues on Luxor West bank. You can go to Luxor easily from Aswan or Hurghada by vans, it is about three hours or less. you can go to Luxor from Cairo or Alexandria by the sleeping train or by a flight, there are daily direct flights from Cairo to Luxor, and from Luxor to Cairo, the distance between Alexandria and Cairo by train or car is about 3 hours, then from Cairo to Luxor by train or car about 10 - 11 hours. the sleeping train is comfortable enough for travelling in Egypt, it includes also breakfast and dinner meals, there are single and double cabines, but we advice you to take something extra for your dinner ( Really for some nationalities it is simple and not enough dinner ). the train will make you reduce the price of your travel package in Egypt because you will spend one night in the train from Alexandria or Cairo to Luxor, and other night if you go back fromLuxor to Alexandria or Cairo, so you pay only the train as accomodation and trasportation while if you take the flight you will pay accomodation in hotel and the flight tickets. While the train is comfortable but during the time of manifestations and strikes in Egypt , i dont advice you to use it, it is safe but only you can imagine, if people who are working in rail station decided to make a strike !! The best way to see Luxor and the other Egyptian cities and temples around it, is to take a Nile cruise, there are many categories of Nile cruises travelling between Luxor and Aswan,4 stars, 5 stars standard Nile cruises and 5 stars deluxe Nile Cruises, most of them start travelling from Luxor to Aswan Monday, Thursday and saturday ( it is 4 nights cruise travelling), then they return ( Wednesday,Fridays, Monday ) to Aswan from Luxor in other tour of 3 nights, Travellers can choose one of the two ways 4 nights from Luxor to Aswan, or 3 nights from Aswan to Luxor or they can do all of them in 7 nights Nile cruise tours.
